When there’s no police report

It happens, especially with minor-looking crashes and busy agencies.

When a crash must be reported

Georgia law generally requires drivers to report crashes involving injury, death, or property damage above a set amount to the police.

If police didn’t come

  1. Call the non-emergency line and ask whether you can still file a report, and how.
  2. Write down everything while it’s fresh: time, place, what happened, the other driver’s info.
  3. Keep your photos, and screenshot any texts with the other driver.
  4. Report the claim to the insurance companies promptly.
Get medical care if you’re hurt, and tell the doctor it was from a car crash. Medical records become key evidence when there’s no report.
