CARWRECK.REPORT / REPORT & INSURANCE
The report and your insurance claim
The report opens the file. Your evidence finishes it.

What the insurer looks at
- Contributing factors and citations
- Statements in the narrative
- Injury codes
- Insurance information for each driver
What to send, and not send
You can share the report number with insurers. Be careful about giving the other driver’s insurer a recorded statement; you’re generally not required to.
When the report helps you
A clear report that cites the other driver can speed up a property damage claim. But for injuries, the insurer will still question your medical treatment and its cost.
Hurt? A good report doesn’t guarantee a fair injury settlement. That’s where a lawyer helps.
